Civil Design Engineer

MARRS Services, a Civil Engineering and Construction Management Firm, is seeking a Civil Engineering Designer, to support several Major ongoing Municipal Public Works Projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Project delivery, coordination, scoping and design.
o Field assessment; Utility coordination.
o Preparation of plans, schematics, specifications, and documentation.
o Project schedules, cost estimates, and budgets.
o Traffic mitigation plans (TMP).
o Street lighting and landscape evaluation and design.
o Constructability reviews and recommendations.
o Project approvals and permits.
o Project bid package; Project documentation and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering design with a minimum of 3 years of roadway design experience
o California P.E. (preferred)
o Excellent working knowledge of principles, procedures and technical skills to operate various Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) systems including, but not limited to AutoCAD, Civil 3D and AutoTurn.

o Good knowledge of the principles, techniques, and nomenclature used in civil engineering drafting.
o Good knowledge with proven experience of civil engineering practices and procedures as applied to street design and construction, drainage systems, and other public
works improvements.
o Good knowledge with construction material and methodology used in street construction.
o Good knowledge and applications of City, State, and Federal design procedures and standards, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination for developing the
PS&E package.
o Ability to conduct independent field investigations and collect field data to support design work.
o Ability to research, identify and provide a written report and/or summary of potential utility relocation and protect-in-place items to fulfill grant funding requirements.
o Ability to conduct independent field inspection and investigation of street and street facilities and prepare technical report that includes analysis of problem and
recommended solution.
o Ability to perform drafting, detailing, and plotting of construction plans.
o Ability to anticipate problems and develop solutions to overcome them.
o Good communication skills, both written and oral.
o Good team player with City staff personnel and stakeholders.
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
o Highly motivated, quick learner and a self-starter.
o Familiarity in working with BOE, or other City agencies, is desired.
o Good understanding of safety issues, including Cal OSHA regulations.

Seeking an experienced MEP Construction Inspector for Vertical Building Construction Projects, with emphasis on commercial / municipal buildings and facilities.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in construction inspection and/or construction phase field work.

Construction Inspector will work in the field to provide construction inspection services during construction and installation of building Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) systems for new construction and renovation projects.

Interact with construction contractors, construction subcontractors, engineers/architects and regulatory authorities (municipal, county, state and federal).

o Site inspections
o Monitor scheduling
o Review of RFI, change order and submittals
o Pay application review
o Contract administration
o Daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs.
o Certified Inspector preferred (ICC, DSA, CWI, etc.)
o Experience with on-site, in-the-field construction inspection and reporting for MEP inspections

Skills: Excellent communication skills and experience working with applicable computer programs for inspection, documentation, reporting and monitoring work schedules during the Construction Phase, as well as familiarity with Testing and Reporting standards.

Civil Engineering & Construction Management Firm has opportunity for a Senior Estimator. Strong Negotiation experience also preferred.

Duties include: providing detailed construction cost estimates, analysis and review of Project Cost & Budget Expenditures; Cost Control; Estimate Reconciliations; Forecasting, and Benchmarking

Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed engineering and construction project cost reports, charts, and diagrams.
Promptly report anticipated cost overages or other unsatisfactory cost elements.
Monitor, evaluate, and report project cost data, including budgeted and forecasted amounts.

Job Description:
Ongoing full-time Project Opportunity for Scheduling Engineer with Civil and/or Structural experience. Including:

• A minimum of 5 years scheduling experience preferably dealing with Facilities, Public Infrastructure or Water related projects.
• Working knowledge of Primavera and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
• Basic knowledge of the wastewater treatment environment and the nature of design related thereto.
• Ability to produce a detailed, integrated, design and construction schedules from a summary engineering schedule and a set of plans and specifications with minimal input from the designer and none from a contractor.
• Experience with detailed review of contractor’s baseline CPM schedules.
• Ability to monitor job progress and review contractor’s schedule updates.
• Ability to anticipate problems and develop solutions to overcome problems.
• Experience negotiating change order time extensions with the contractor.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral.
